VALVERDE (Juan).
Vivae Imagines partium corporis humani aereis formis expressae. Antwerp, Christophe Plantin, 1566. In-folio, fawn half-basan, smooth spine decorated with gold filets, green title piece (Binding ca. 1800). Cushing, Vesalius, p. 151. First Latin edition of this treatise on anatomy, illustrated with a title-frontispiece and 42 beautiful figures on copper, here in a very fine edition...: these, included in the pagination, are copies of Vesalius' famous wood illustrations. The work, due to the physician Juan de Valverde, was first published in Spanish in Rome in 1556. It contains at the end, in separate pagination, an Epitome of Vesalius. Reassembled frontispiece, tear without missing on sheet A3. Caps destroyed, split at the bits.
