Moral works & meslees. Paris, Michel de Vascosan, 1575 [at the end]: Printed in Paris by Michel Vascosan and Fédéric Morel. - The Lives of Illustrious Greeks & Romans. Paris, De l'imprimerie de Michel de Vascosan, 1565. 2 volumes in-folio, fawn calf, gilt coat of arms, decorated spine, red edges (Binding from the first half of the 18th century). Third edition of Œuvres morales in the translation by Jacques Amyot, and second edition translated by the same of Vies des hommes illustres. Magnificent editions printed by Michel de Vascosan, the first in collaboration with his son-in-law Fédéric Morel (cf. Dumoulin, n°254). A copy with the arms of Louis-François-Armand de Vignerot du Plessis, Duke of Richelieu (1696-1788), the cardinal's great nephew. Manuscript mention on page 212 v° of the second work, in the margin: Madelene de la Chastre Madelon. The last introductory page and page Oo4 (numbered 358) of the first work, blank, have not been preserved. The second work is incomplete with 5 leaves (D5-6, E1 and 2 table leaves). In the second volume: wetness at the foot of folios TT3-4, small tear without missing parts consolidated on the edge of folio BBb6, some scorched folios, small gallery and wormholes touching the text at the end of the volume, stains and tear at the last two table leaves with loss of letters. Rubbed binding; restorations to the caps, corners and hinges (those on the hinges did not hold and some are split again).
