PINDARE.
Olympia, Pythia, Nemea, Isthmia. Basel, Andreas Cratander, 1535. In-4, overlapping soft calfskin, traces of binding (contemporary binding). Rare edition of the Latin translation and commentaries by Johann Lonicer (1499-1569), Lutheran humanist and professor of Hebrew, Greek and Latin languages. Printed in Greek, Roman and italic characters by Cratander, with the typographical mark adorning the title and verso of the last page. Ancient manuscript bindings on a guard (Belloni...) and at the bottom of the title (C. Capello). Large reddish-brown moulding in the g and h sections, lighter-brown moulding in several sections. Worm work in the white of the title, without seriousness. Traces of an old label at the bottom of the spine.
