PARÉ (Ambroise)
The Works. Lyon, Pierre Rigaud, 1652. In-folio, fawn basane, gilt filet gras, coat of arms in the center, spine decorated, speckled edges (contemporary binding). Collective edition described by Doe under n°42, decorated with numerous figures on wood in the text. Copy with the arms of a clergyman (cardinal's hat from which hangs on each side a six-point cord, coat of arms decorated with a wolf's head). 17th century ex-libris on the upper back cover, and ex-dono dated 1769 on a guard. Incomplete of 4 leaves (Aaa3-4, OOo1 and OOo5), which, at the time of binding, were forgotten by the bookbinder who confused them with 4 others which are therefore in duplicate. Uniform freckling and yellowing, tears consolidated with adhesive at the CCc1-4 and CCc6 sheets. Thin worm gallery at the head of the TTt-VV notebooks. First guard and false title sheet detached. Very used binding, stained and detached flats.
