JUVENAL.
[Satirae]. S.l.n.d. Lyon, Jean de Vingle, May 18, 1495. Gothic folio, brown calf, covers decorated with cold fleuron fillets (flower bud), spine with three raised bands (modern pastiche binding). GW, M15692. - Hain, 9708. - Pellechet, 6879. - Goff, J-661. - Claudin, t. IV, p. 225. - Baudrier, t. XII, p. 199. Rare Lyon incunabulum edition of the Satires de Juvénal, with commentaries by Domitius Calderinus and Georgius Valla: fewer than 25 copies are listed in the public collections. Carefully printed in Gothic characters by Jean de Vingle, whose large typographical mark adorns the title. A copy extensively annotated by a reader of the early 16th century who affixed his ex-libris and wrote notes on the title and the last page. Title stained with wet spots, marginal wetness in several notebooks. Sheet a8, probably white, not preserved. Lack of paper at the bottom corner of the last page, without damage to the text.
