The XXIIII books of the Iliad. With the first three Books of the Odissee [sic]. Paris, Abel L'Angelier, 1599. 3 parts in one volume in-12, fawn calf, double gilt fillet, smooth spine decorated lengthwise, inside scroll, untrimmed (Binding ca. 1830). Balsamo & Simonin, n°321. Second collective edition published by Abel L'Angelier, after that of 1584, in the famous translation by Hugues Salel (1504-1553) for the first eleven books of the Iliad and that of Amadis Jamyn (1540-1593) for the thirteen following ones; the translation of the Odyssey by Jamyn remained unfinished. Copy with title in first state. De Maserolle manuscript ex-libris at bottom of title, repeated on verso. Upper corner of restored title. Small tear or slit on the edge of a few leaves, slight freckles. Rubbing at the corners, snagging on the upper cap.
