Iliadis and Odysseae libros [graecae and latinae]. Basel, Froben, 1559-1560. 3 volumes in folio, brown Russian leather, set of straight and curved fillets forming a frame on the covers, spine gilt, gilt edges (English binding from the end of the 18th century). Remarkable edition entirely printed in Greek of the Iliad and the Odyssey, with commentaries by Saint Eustathe of Thessaloniki (12th century). An enriched copy with a suite of 73 copper-engraved plates by Hollar and Cauckercken after Diepenbecke, Lombart and Cleyn, including 2 beautiful frontispieces and a full-length portrait of Homer. The third volume is incomplete with the index and the last leaf containing the register and the mark on the reverse (a total of 66 leaves). Small angular restoration with 6 leaves, slight trace of wetness at the head of volume III, a few stains. Very used binding with small lacks and important rubbing, a detached cover.
