Exercitatio Anatomica. De motu cordis & sanguinis. Rotterdam, Arnold Leers, 1648. Small in-12, red morocco, gilt fillet, smooth spine decorated with gilt fillets, gilt edges, lining and endpapers dominoté (Foreign binding of the 18th century). Harvey's famous treatise on blood circulation. First small-format edition of De motu cordis, decorated with an allegorical frontispiece and 2 intaglio figures illustrating the circulation of blood in the veins of a garroted forearm, included in the pagination (pp. 156-157). Missing is the text Dissertatio de Corde by Jacob de Back, announced on the title page, which must be on separate pagination following Harvey's treatise. Some freckles, small stains at the binding. Attached from the same: Exercitationes De generatione animalium. Amsterdam, Jean Jansson, 1651. In-12, granite calf, decorated spine, speckled edges (contemporary binding). Keynes, no. 37. - Krivatsy, n°5345. - Willems, n°1129. Counterfeit of the first Elzevirian edition published the same year. Missing the engraved frontispiece. Caps torn off, split hinges and worn corners.
