DU BELLAY (Joachim).
Les Œuvres françoises. Lyon, Antoine de Harsy, 1575. In-8, speckled basane, spine decorated, red title-piece, edges speckled with red (early 18th century binding). First Lyon collective edition of this major poet of the Pléiade (cf. Tchemerzine, vol. III, p. 77-a). Pretty edition printed in italics, bearing on the title the typographic mark of Jean II Frellon, brother-in-law of Antoine de Harsy. A copy that belonged to Jacques-Annibal Claret de La Tourrette (1692-1776), president of the Lyon mint, with his engraved armorial ex-libris dated 1719. Wet seal from the library of J. Richard (Anglo-Saxon provenance, 19th century) on the title, repeated p. 1. Handwritten mentions masked by small white paper butterflies on some leaves (b2, G1, X2, X7 and Y2). Copy slightly trimmed short at the head. Some light freckles, marginal stain at the end of the volume. Hooked on the caps, a split bit. Golden irons on the back a bit faded. EGYPT.
