The Works. Waking up & rising through the Autumn. Paris, Pour Jean Février, 1583. 2 parts in one volume in-12, fawn calf, cold gilt filets, gilt medallion in the center, spine gilt, red title coin (contemporary binding). Very rare edition, not cited by Tchemerzine but described by Barbier in his Bibliothèque poétique, t. IV, n°11. This collective edition, printed for Jean Février and Michel Gadoulleau, contains La Semaine ou Création du monde with commentaries by Simon Goulart, the six books of La Judith, L'Uranie, Le Triomphe de la Foy and the Poème dressé pour l'accueil de la Roine de Navarre faisant son entrée à Nérac. 7 wooden vignettes for La Semaine, and a folding table for the History of the Creation of the World, interspersed among the introductory notebook e. A copy in a late 16th century binding decorated on the covers with an oval medallion depicting a Crucifixion. Small oxidation hole removing a letter on folio 155. Lower moulding mainly affecting the V to Z and GG-HH notebooks. Decorated 18th century back plated on the original back (very uneven with missing parts), wear at two corners.
