Commentarii linguae graecae. Basel, s.n. Johannes Bebel], [March] 1530. folio, stiff vellum, spine ribbed with title in ink, edges speckled with red (Binding 17th century). Second edition, after the original published in Paris by Josse Bade in 1529. Printed in Greek and Roman characters on two columns, the dedication to Francis I being printed entirely in Greek. Les Commentaires de la langue grecque, a monumental work by Guillaume Budé (1468-1540), played a major role in the study of Greek in France in the 16th century. On the title, a manuscript ex-libris of a monastery (17th century). Leaflet e1 a little crumpled. Large ink stain at the head of the first introductory leaves, doubled title and a reinforced table leaf in the inner margin. Slightly rusty leaves, the last 8 strongly affected with wetness. The colophon is crossed out with a pen at the end.
