ANANIA (Giovanni Lorenzo).
De natura daemonum Libri IIII. Venice, s.n. [Aldus the Younger], 1581. In-8, hard vellum, laces (modern binding). Caillet, no. 272. - Renouard, Aldus, p. 228, no. 2. Original edition of this rare treatise on demonology, by Giovanni Lorenzo Anania, a Calabrian theologian and scholar who lived in the second half of the sixteenth century and was the protégé of the archbishop of Naples. Collin de Plancy, in his Dictionnaire infernal (1844, p. 30), mentions a Neapolitan edition of 1562 which does not seem to exist. Stanislas de Guaita only had the 1589 edition of this book (see his catalogue, 1899, no. 111). Old manuscript ex-libris on the title, one crossed out and the other cut out at the head. Scorched K notebook, small moulding at the foot of the E, F and G notebooks, lower corner of the last eight leaves gnawed.
