(including table and finished printing): Emerald green morocco, dishes decorated with a set of golden fillets evoking the rays of a sun drawn by concentric circles at the base, the line of the horizon represented by two black bold fillets, smooth spine bearing the title in Chinese-style gilt capitals between sets of fillets, large inner frame of morocco of the same colour decorated with four gold fillets, lining and endpapers of brocaded silk, double endpapers of marbled paper, gold edges, illustrated cover, green half morocco shirt with stripes, case (G. Cretté succ. de Marius Michel). Subtle illustration by François-Louis Schmied, and one of his finest contributions to the art of the book. The edition, prepared by François-Louis Schmied for the Société du Livre Contemporain, has a print run of 125 copies in Japanese. It is illustrated with 83 woodcut compositions in colour and gold, sometimes in silver: one on the cover, 40 compositions in the text, 7 others full-page, including one in the frontispiece, and 35 culs-de-lampe. In this collection of 46 poems, the Countess de Noailles evokes in turn impressions of her travels both in northern Europe and in the Mediterranean basin, praising her enchantment of Sicily, the desert of the evenings, the gardens of Lombardy, the Roman days, the Venetian night, the spring of the Rhine, the nights of Baden, and so on. The copy is enriched with: - a 42-wood black suite, printed on thin japanese wood and mounted, including 2 for the menu featuring F.-L. Schmied in oriental costume and presenting his book. - 15 colour proofs signed by the artist. - 7 colour compositions, 4 of which are printed on japanese and 3 on another paper. - of a signed dispatch from the Countess de Noailles to Elisabeth Hearth, dated November 27, 1927 (on the back cover) and of an autograph poem signed by the
