BERTRAND (Aloysius)
Gaspard of the night. Fantasies in the manner of Rembrandt and Callot. Paris, Éditions de la Sirène, 1920. In-8, XXXVI pp. (false-title, title and full-page frontispiece included) and 176 pp. (the last one unencumbered): marbled brown calf, composition in relief on the covers and spine, gilt title on the spine, inside gilt scroll, gilt head, untrimmed, cover and spine (L. Dézé). Edition illustrated with numerous drawings in black, printed in 215 numbered copies. One of the 200 copies on pure thread laid paper from the Voiron manufactures. Interesting specimen of Louis Dézé's leather binding. It is decorated on the covers and spine with modelled compositions inspired by the engravings of the book, the one on the second cover being signed. Louis Dézé (1857-1930) was a specialist in this type of binding. Spine slightly lightened, small chip on the second cover.
