GOLL (Jean-Frédéric)
Excerpt from the Roman catechism by order of His Eminence Monsignor the Cardinal Archbishop of Vienna, &c. made for all schools for the common use of children. Vienna, Herman Joseph Krüchten, 1766. In-12, 138 pp. and 2 ff.n.ch.: blue morocco, wide golden lace on the covers, decorated spine, red title coin, gilt edges (Austrian binding at the time). Catechism by questions and answers for the children of the French community of Vienna, printed in this capital in French. Lovely Viennese binding with gilt lace and small irons, perfectly preserved. The upper back cover bears the library label of Duke Albert of Saxe-Teschen (1738-182), husband of the Archduchess of Austria, sister of Marie-Antoinette. Governor of the Austrian Netherlands, he had built up an important library and, above all, an immense collection of drawings which today forms the nucleus of the Albertina in Vienna.
