Discussed the situation of the Earthly Paradise. Paris, Jean Anisson, 1691. In-12, frontispiece, 10 ff.n.ch., 240 pp. and 10 ff.n.ch.: red morocco, triple gilt fillet, smooth decorated spine, inside roulette, gilt edges (18th century binding). Original edition: it is decorated with a frontispiece and a folding map of Mesopotamia. Treatise on the Garden of Eden composed by the Jesuit Pierre-Daniel Huet (1630-1721), bishop of Avranches and Norman scholar. The work is addressed to his fellow members of the French Academy. Relying on the sacred texts and after studying the arguments of several theologians and humanists from antiquity to the 17th century, Huet proposes to locate the terrestrial Paradise in the East, south of Babylon, on the river that produces the junction of the Tigris & the Euphrates, & that we call today the River of the Arabs (p. 229). beautiful copy in morocco of the 18th century.
