EUCLIDE
Elementorum libri XV. - Euclidis posteriores libri IX. Frankfurt, Nicolas Hoffmann for Jonas Rhodius, 1607. 2 volumes in a strong volume in-8, reusable vellum on thin plank of wood, small covers (17th century binding). Latin edition translated by Christophorus Clavius, containing the fifteen books of the Euclidean Elements and the apocryphal books. It is decorated with a very large number of geometric figures on wood in the text. (Riccardi, Bibliografia Euclidea, p. 29.) Copy bound at the time in a 15th century manuscript leaf. Ex-libris manuscript of the period repeated on the upper back cover: Schwarzman. Bookplates by Einar Josefson. The volume is not very scorched, as are often the German books of the 17th century, whose paper is of poor quality. The first and last leaves are a little crumpled when in contact with the protruding parts of the cover. Vellum a little stained.
