Geneva, Henri Estienne, typographer of Ulrich Fugger, 1567. 2 parts in one large volume in-16, 2 ff.n.ch., 379 pp., 2 white ff. and 955 pp.: red morocco, triple gilt fillet, smooth decorated spine, inner spine spine, gilt edges (18th century binding). Collection of 8 ancient tragedies in Latin translations by Erasmus, Melanchthon, Joachim Camerarius, Georg Buchanan, Georg Rattaler, etc.: it contains one piece by Aeschylus (Prometheus), three by Sophocles (Ajax, Electra and Antigone) and four by Euripides (Medea, Aleppo, Hecuba and Iphigenia in Aulid). This scholarly publication, beautifully printed in small Greek, Roman and italic characters, is part of a large-scale project funded by Ulrich Fugger, a member of the illustrious Augsburg banking family. A copy bound in morocco in the 18th century in the style of Bradel-Derome, with the spine tastefully decorated. Antique pen and ink signature on the title: Pellerin.
