VAUCAIRE (Maurice)
Twenty masks. Paris, Librairie Rouquette, n.d. [1895]. In-8, green morocco, border formed of stylized golden and red rosebuds, a few golden irons (flying bees) struck here and there, back with three large nerves decorated along the same border, inner net frame, head gilt, untrimmed, cover and back (René Kieffer). Original edition, illustrated with 35 watercolour drawings by Louis Morin. First draw. One of Louis Morin's most sought-after books. One of the 100 copies on imperial japanese, the only large paper, this one containing a series of illustrations on china and enriched with an original watercolour by the artist in the book format, accompanied by a shipment to a certain Mr Wurtz. Edge of the guards passed, caused by the inner return of the skin on the countertops. Spine and edge of the binding a bit cheeky.
