PRAYERS AND CEREMONIES of the Coronation of H.M. Charles X, published by order of the Archbishop of Rheims. Paris, Lefuel, n.d. [1825]. In-12, plum morocco, gilt roulette, large cold plate depicting a four-lobed cartouche with a middle in reserve, the field decorated with a decoration of lattices, gilt coat of arms in the centre of the first plate, large crowned figure on the second, smooth decorated back, interior cold roulette, lining and endpapers embossed with a semé of stars, gilt edges (Decle). A precious copy of the coat of arms of Duchess Charlotte d'Angoulême (1778-1851), daughter of Louis XVI, nicknamed Madame Royale. The crowned figure on the second plate, made up of two interlaced Cs, would be that of Charles X. The binding is signed Decle, a Parisian bookbinder and papermaker active towards the end of the Empire, appointed King's Bookbinder in 1825. Numerous freckles, traces of oxidation on the guards and lining.
