LELOIR. - DOUCET (Jérôme).
The Song of the Months. Reims, L. Michaud, 1904. In-folio, red morocco, roulette and two double gilt fillets in frame, wide spandrel at corners, ornate back, wide inner border, gilt edges (Champs Stroobants Sr). Very beautiful book, composed of 40 plates illustrated with colour compositions by Maurice Leloir associated with the poems of the author. Edition of 165 copies, this one of the 15 on whatmann with a large original unpublished watercolour, a suite of woodcut watercolours printed on japanese with remarks, and a double suite of plates, one of which is on china, the latter two bound in a separate volume. Nominative copy for Henry Vasnier, justified and signed by the artist (n°1), with the remarks of the suite on japan entirely watercoloured with a brush. Superb copy, mounted on tabs and bound in the taste of the 18th century.
