An Amazon under the First Empire. Preface by Jules de Marthold. Paris, Charles Carrington, 1902. In-8, blue morocco bradel, double fillet and dotted fillet, stylized fleuron at the corners, smooth back decorated along the length with fillets and scrolls, iron representing two birds pecking, inside frame of a bold fillet and dotted fillet, iron and scrolls at the corners, lining and guards of coloured moiré silk, gilt edges on witnesses, cover and back, case (Charles Meunier). 36 compositions engraved with etching by Charles Thévenin. One of the 75 head copies on japan, including a triple suite on japan of the illustrations, all with remarks: proofs before the letter in black, pure etching in black and pure etching in bistre. Very beautiful binding by Charles Meunier, of supreme elegance.
