MANUSCRIT. - [MINES]. Collection of various writings on mines. S.l.n.d. [mid-18th century]. In-8 manuscript (155 x 100 mm) of about 150 sheets, brown calf, decorated back, red title piece, red speckled edges (period binding). 18th century mining engineering manuscript. In a very legible handwriting, it is illustrated with about fifteen watercolour technical drawings showing miner's tools, the way to blow up the piers of a bridge, the establishment of the frames of a well, etc., and some geometric figures in the text. The manuscript consists of the following writings: Tables for loading mines and for the costumes of the Chambers (15 ff.), Speech on mines and counter-mines (27 pages), Calculation of the chambers (5 pages), Table of the paraboloid cube (one page and 4 folded sheets), Passage of the ditch (11 pages), Proportions of the tools for miners (masses, corners, punch, chisel, spade, testu, shovel, dredge, drill bit, etc.)), Air in the mines, Shafts: abbreviated way to quarry and cuber, Table of squares and cubes starting at root 100 (50 ff.), Table of circumferences and surfaces of circles from 1 to 120, etc. Handwritten bookplates at the head of the volume: Le Chev. d'Artezé. Lower corner of the last 15 sheets nibbled by moisture. Very restored binding.
