MANUSCRIT. - ABÉCÉDAIRE: Copies of the name of God started on this first day of the January year 1609. Faicts by Anthoine Vinier, disciple of Mr. de Gérentes, a fencer with his own Anthoine. S.l., 1609. In-4 oblong manuscript (about 198 x 230 mm), 45 pages (one title, ff. 3-27 and ff. 29-47), red half-marble with small vellum corners, red title piece on the first plate, back decorated with gilded fleurons (modern binding in the old taste). An extraordinary collection of calligraphy "examples" by a master writer from the early 17th century. Each example includes a large and beautiful letter of the alphabet, adorned with geometric elements (such as gift letters) or fantastic animal shapes, and rhyming verse pieces copied in bastard writing.
