Vita del B. P. Ignatio Loiola, founder of the religion of the Compagnia di Giesu. Naples, Gio. Battista Sottile, 1607. Small in-8, half vellum with small corners, smooth back with ink title (modern binding). Carayon, number 2138. - Sommervogel, t. VI, col. 1730: First edition in Italian of the very first biography dedicated to Saint Ignatius of Loyola, the founder of the Society of Jesus. This one is the work of the Spanish Jesuit Pedro de Ribadeneyra (1526-1611), who first composed it in his native language in the second half of the 16th century. An exemplary pleasure. Slight freckles.
