Works. Paris, Chez Quillau, Esprit et l'Auteur, 1773. 2 volumes in a volume in-4, marbled calf, triple cold fillet, decorated back, red title piece, red slices (period binding). Leicester, p. 145, n°315. First collective edition in French of Benjamin Franklin's scientific works (1706-1790), translated by Jacques Barbeu-Dubourg. It is illustrated with a portrait of the author and 12 plates, all engraved on copper by Martinet. The first volume contains the author's research on electricity. The second contains his various works on physics, the inoculation of smallpox, etc., as well as several letters to the translator, which had not been reproduced in the London edition of 1769. Small brown spots on the edge of the false title and on the title of the first volume. Two damaged corners, repaired caps, upper hinge partly cracked.
