Set of 2 works in a high volume in-8, soft vellum with overlapping, smooth back with long calligraphic title (Binding of the period). New editions of these two books by Jean-François Fernel (1497-1558), King Henry II's doctor, who remained famous for his work on pathology. They are each decorated with an engraved portrait of the author, identical, seen from the side. Copy with some old pen annotations in the margins and long notes on the guards. Handwritten bookplates on the title. Minimal gallery of worms to about twenty sheets. Vellum removed from the volume, browned back.
