Second edition, illustrated with a vignette on the title representing a lynx, symbol of the Académie des Lyncéens, 2 vignettes at the top showing 4 medals and 38 plates showing plants but also some rare fish. Beautiful botanical book by Fabio Colonna (1567-1640), a Neapolitan botanist who was a member of the Academy of Lynchedans, a learned society founded in Rome in 1603 and whose works mainly concerned natural history. Wet stamp at the bottom of the title, unidentified. Cahiers D and E interchanged, wet blade touching the upper corner and edge of the volume. Small tear in the back.
