Extremely rare first edition of this great 16th century artillery treatise, by Luis Collado, a Spanish engineer attached to the army of Philip II in Italy. It is dedicated to Charles of Aragon, Duke of Terranova, Great Constable and Admiral of Sicily, and Governor of Milan. Title printed in a beautiful wood-engraved frame with architectural decoration with caryatids, the coat of arms of the dedicatee appearing in the center. The illustration, engraved on wood, includes 2 non-text folding plates and 36 figures in the text (mainly technical figures and gun barrels), including the famous full-page figure illustrating the bombing of a city. Edge of the title and reinforced sheet 49. Angular wetting over the entire volume. Bound restorations, tail hitch.
