Original edition of this beautiful herbarium by Charles de L'Écluse (1526-1609), decorated with a beautiful allegorical frontispiece title engraved on copper, a portrait of the author engraved by De Gheyn, and nearly 1100 plant and mushroom woods in the text. Annotated copy by a former owner who added the corresponding binominal name next to several woods, according to the Linnaeus system. Facsimile sheets dd3 and dd4, restored worm gallery in the margin and corner of several sheets. Frontispiece soiled, raised and reinforced. Friction in the binding.
