BURGKMAIR (Hans) ou Leonhard BECK
- Images of saints from the family of Emperor Maximilian I. Vienna, Stöckl, Printed by the Widow Alberti, 1799. In-folio, stapled, blue blanket silent, not trimmed, under a rigid shirt semi-percaline green modern (Brochage d'attente of the time). Fairfax-Murray, German books, No. 53. A superb series of 119 large woods attributed to Hans Burgkmair or Leonhard Beck, representing saints from the Habsburg family. These, first used in the 16th century, were executed between 1516 and 1518 in Augsburg by a group of wood engravers in the service of Emperor Maximilian I. The woods, now in the Vienna library, were discovered at the end of the 18th century by Bartsch. The figure of St. George has been returned to Springinklee. Freckles on the whole volume. Little lack of paper on the headdresses.
