Novus Atlas, Das ist Welt-beschreibung [...]. Drittes Theil. Amsterdam, Johannes Blaeu, 1647. In-folio, overlapping rigid vellum, sets of gilded wheels forming a large frame joined at the corners, spandrels, large central cartridge with reserve medium, laces, smooth back decorated, gilded edges (editor's binding). Third single volume of the German version of Blaeu's Atlas maior, here dedicated to Italy and Greece, illustrated with a superb architectural frontispiece title and 62 maps of Italy and Greece, including 58 double-page and 4 single in the text. The complete collection of this rare German edition includes 6 volumes published from 1647 to 1655 and includes more than 400 maps. Exemplary in brilliant period colours, preserved in its publisher's vellum. Number crowned in black ink at the bottom of the frontispiece, and an institution's transfer stamp on the back. Angular wetting, some freckles and stains. Stained binding, new lining and guards, modern laces.
