The Opening of the Escolle de philosophie transmutatoire métallique. Paris, Charles Sevestre, 1633. In-8, soft vellum, smooth back with the posterior title in ink (Binding of the period).

First edition, very rare, of Planis Campy's most famous treatise on alchemy, doctor, alchemist and disciple of Paracelsus.
It is decorated with a pretty frontispiece engraved on copper by Matheus and a portrait of the author by Michel Lasne. Nice typographical mark of the publisher on the back of the last leaflet.
Ex-libris ancient manuscripts at the head of the frontispiece and on the title. Armoured bookplate engraved with Ferdinand, Count of Marsin and Marquis de Clermont d'Entragues.
Frontispiece a little bit gnawed at the edge, small gallery of filled worm. Clear wetting. Lack of marginal paper on sheet H1 and angular repair on sheet K2, without affecting the text.
