The Opening of the Escolle de philosophie transmutatoire métallique. Paris, Charles Sevestre, 1633. In-8, soft vellum, smooth back with the posterior title in ink (Binding of the period). Caillet, n°8724. - Dorbon, n°3681. - Ferguson, t. II, p. 205. First edition, very rare, of Planis Campy's most famous treatise on alchemy, doctor, alchemist and disciple of Paracelsus. It is decorated with a pretty frontispiece engraved on copper by Matheus and a portrait of the author by Michel Lasne. Nice typographical mark of the publisher on the back of the last leaflet. Ex-libris ancient manuscripts at the head of the frontispiece and on the title. Armoured bookplate engraved with Ferdinand, Count of Marsin and Marquis de Clermont d'Entragues. Frontispiece a little bit gnawed at the edge, small gallery of filled worm. Clear wetting. Lack of marginal paper on sheet H1 and angular repair on sheet K2, without affecting the text.
