Auguries, or, divinations. Lyon, Jean de Tournes, 1546. In-8, rigid vellum (19th century binding). Cartier, n°62 - not in Caillet or Dorbon. Very rare treatise on divinatory art. First edition of the translation by Antoine du Moulin, valet of the Queen of Navarre. Agostino Nifo, an Italian philosopher and commentator born in Calabria in the second half of the 15th century and who died around 1536, taught in Naples, Padua and Salerno. Nice impression of Jean de Tournes, whose typographical mark occupies the back of the last leaflet. An astronomical figure on page 61, relating to the Astronomers' Opinion of the virtue & effectiveness of omens. Repair at the lower corner of the title and the first dedication sheet, with loss of two letters in the publisher's name; freckles.
