MANUSCRIT. — GÉRARD DE CRÉMONE
Astronomical Geomancy. To know the past, present and future. [18th century]. Manuscript in-4 (about 200 x 155 mm), 122 pages, marbled basane, decorated back, red title piece, case (modern binding). An 18th century manuscript copy of one of the first treatises on geomancy, composed by the Italian doctor and astrologer Gérard de Cremona in the 13th century, with the first French translation published in 1661. The author analyses the signs, the houses, studies the good or bad influence of the planets, etc. As the title page indicates, the manuscript was copied from the 1687 Parisian edition published by Laurent d'Houry. It is decorated with 3 square figures with the positions of the planets and a drawing representing a divination wheel. The title is restored and lined with Japanese paper. Spots on a few pages.
