MANUSCRIT. — FLAMEL (Nicolas)
The Treasure of Treasures. Given by Nicolas Flamel to Sr. Perrier, nephew of Perenelle his wife, in 1414. [18th century]. In-8 manuscript (210 x 138 mm) of 57 pages, rigid vellum, red half-basane case box (18th century binding). Manuscript copy of Nicolas Flamel's Alchemical Testament, a text revealing the secrets of the great Work. The manuscript begins with a perfectly legible writing: The beginning of wisdom is the fear of God, make every effort to obtain it, so that you may be joined with His Eternal Glory; and ends with: Has therefore seen this Treasure, in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. A beautiful 18th century manuscript, the text of which, set and framed by a pencil net, is decorated with some thirty colour drawings and numerous alchemical symbols. The last page is occupied by an astrological and magical square. Two pencil notes indicate that this manuscript belonged to Eugene Canseliet, an alchemist who was Fulcanelli's disciple and a great specialist in hermetic philosophy; beautiful provenance. A few stains.
