Amand secundario scripta ab Henrico Frederico Van Leemputten Sichemiensi in florentissimo pedagogio Lilii sub protexione panonorum. 1740. in-4 manuscript (185 x 150 mm) of about 700 pages, rigid vellum, ink title on the back, slices speckled with red (18th century binding).
Important and beautiful mid-eighteenth century manuscript containing a complete course of science (astronomy, physics, astrology, mechanics, pneumatics, metaphysics, natural philosophy, medicine, etc.) taught by two professors from Lille to a Henri Van Leemputten, a student at the University of Louvain from Sichem in Brabant.
It opens with a colored, intaglio engraved frontispiece title, the central cartouche of which bears the title in red ink. It is decorated with about twenty original pen drawings in the text or on a full page, one of which is interesting with a moving part of the human heart, the planetary systems of Ptolemy, Copernicus and Tycho Brahe, a folding world map, a coloured astrological plate, etc., and is enriched with 8 copper engravings from 17th and 18th century works.
