Testamentum duobus libris universam artem Chymicam complectens, & eiusdem compendium animae transmutationis artis metallorum. Rouen, David Berthelin, 1663. In-8, marbled calf, cold fillet, smooth back decorated, red title piece, red slices (18th century binding). The Testament of Universal Chemical Art, originally published in 1566 in Cologne, is one of the major sources of medieval alchemy. It sets out the rules for carrying out the Great Work, i. e. the transmutation of metals into gold. The edition is decorated with 2 folding plates. Copy of the alchemist and freemason Louis-François Comte de Bourbon-Busset (1749-1829), with his ex-libris. A few wetting and freckles, accroc à l'angle supérieur du dernier feuilleillet avec perte de quelques lettres.
