JAMBLICHUS
De Mysteriis Aegyptiorum, Chaldaeorum, Assyriorum. Geneva, Jean de Tournes, 1607. In-16, rigid vellum, laces, ink title on the back (17th century binding). The treatise of Jamblichus, a fourth-century Greek philosopher, is followed by Proclus' De sacrificio et magia, Porphyrius' De divinis atque demonibus, Psellus' De demonibus and Hermes Trismegistus' Pimander of Mercury. Decorated with a medallion portrait of Jamblichus, engraved on wood on the back of the last leaf, this edition reproduces those of Lyon, 1552 and 1570, and on the title, ex-libris manuscripts of the Discalced Carmelites of Rennes and of a priest named Poisson. Small wetting and some light freckles. A little stained vellum.
