Opera chymica, Bücher und Schrifften. Frankfurt, Thomas-Mathieu Gökens, 1658-1659. 2 parts in a high volume in-4, rigid vellum with overlapping, smooth back decorated, slices speckled with blue (Binding of the time).

First collective edition containing the author's most important treatises, such as the Spagyric Pharmacopoeia, the Wonderful Worlds, the Mineral Work, the New Philosophical Stoves, etc.
Printed in German Gothic characters, it is decorated with 7 pretty copper-engraved plates, some of which unfold, representing chemical experiments, distillation apparatus, furnaces, etc. A figure on copper p. 514 for seven chemical symbols.
The copy is entitled the handwritten ex-libris of Protais d'Alt (1620-1683) (Protasius Alt 1671), Grand Chancellor of Freiburg in 1680, which had gathered a vast library of scientific and legal works.
A symbolic figure and the title were later painted on the back. Slight marginal wetting, freckles.
