Beautiful frontispiece drawn by Mattheus Scheits and engraved by Melchior Haffner, featuring a portrait of the author in a medallion holding a retort and below it an animated representation of the alchemical cave in an ornamented cartouche with two winged angel heads, and 19 (out of 20) intaglio plates representing alchemists, allegorical and symbolic figures, stoves, cornues, etc. Copy with many underlined in pen, from the Richard M. Meyer library (ex-libris). Browning over the entire volume, due to the quality of the paper. A little short title in full length with the last line of the address and the cut date.
